In Los Angeles, scriptwriters are always busy creating the next amazing plot point for film or television. When writers map out the outline for a movie or the first season of a series, they have to be creative without being so over the top that audiences will tune them out. Entertainment programming needs to allow viewers to suspend disbelief, but only to a point. There has to be realism as well. What, then, should we make about the fact that UCLA Bruin Jake Bobo and USC Trojan Sam Darnold helped eliminate the Los Angeles Rams from the NFL playoffs and carry the Seattle Seahawks to Super Bowl LX?
It’s not just a ridiculous Hollywood script; it’s real life. The over-the-top scriptwriters came up with something which actually happened. True story. Jake Bobo was a stud at UCLA, and he helped USC’s Sam Darnold and the Seattle Seahawks win the NFC Championship Game against an LA team.
Los Angeles beating Los Angeles to help Seattle go to the San Francisco 49ers’ home stadium. It’s a pretty amazing reality for Southern California sports fans to digest.
Jake Bobo will be UCLA’s only active player in Super Bowl LX. Zach Charbonnet will receive a ring if the Seahawks win the Super Bowl, but he won’t play. His season ended with an injury against the San Francisco 49ers in the divisional playoff round.
