Indio is fining Goldenvoice, the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival’s operator, nearly $45,000 after Anyma and Justin Bieber’s sets went over curfew during Weekend 2.
The city requires festival performances to end by 1 a.m. on Friday and Saturday, then at midnight on Sunday. Indio’s agreement with Goldenvoice stipulates that the city will fine $20,000 if a music set misses the curfew. It also adds $1,000 a minute beginning at the sixth minute over time.
While the festival ended on time during Weekend 1, that wasn’t the case on Weekend 2.
A city spokesperson said Anyma’s Friday, April 17 performance ended at 1:09 a.m. and Bieber’s Saturday, April 18 performance ended at 1:02 a.m. Indio therefore fined $24,000 for Friday and $20,000 for Saturday.
