On Monday, the Los Angeles Rams opened up their offseason training program, kicking off preparations for the 2026 NFL season. Getting their roster in order, wide receiver Xavier Smith officially signed his exclusive rights tender.
Smith, an undrafted free agent out of Florida A&M in 2023, was not eligible for unrestricted free agency. His deal ties him to the Rams for the 2026 season, providing the team with an important offensive weapon and a player who is heavily involved in special teams.
Last season, Smith hauled in 18 catches for 303 yards, including an 82-yard performance against the Carolina Panthers. Smith would eventually surplant Tutu Atwell as the team’s speedster on offense. He also served as the team’s main returner and a gunner, possibly factoring into new special teams coordinator Bubba Ventrone’s plans for the season.
