Fire crews responded to a small brush fire in the Santa Clara River bottom in Bardsdale June 21.
Ventura County Fire responded to the 400 block of Chambersburg Road at 1:23 p.m., according to initial fire reports. Called the Bridge Fire, the blaze spread to about an eighth of an acre in the first 30 minutes.
Chambersburg Road, also known as State Route 23, runs over the river and connects Bardsdale with Fillmore. Bardsdale is an unincorporated area just south of Fillmore.
Smoke from the fire could be seen across the Santa Clara Valley during the height of the blaze.
