The Los Angeles Rams are finalizing their draft boards before the NFL undergoes its annual selection process. With the promise of another top player, the Rams’ draft strategy is one of comfort.
After a strong free agency, the team does not have any major needs on its roster. However, with a lack of clarity revolving around Emmanuel Forbes’ future, the need for another corner could become prevalent once the Rams make a decision on Forbes’ fifth-year option.
If the team decides to draft a cornerback, a top candidate has been revealed to have a familial relationship with the organization.
The Rams and the Hood family
Tennessee cornerback Colton Hood is the nephew of former Rams cornerback Roderick Hood. Roderick played with the Rams during the 2011 season, which ended up being the last stop on his nine-year career.
How this affects the Rams
According to Brett Kollmann, Roderick has been heavily involved in Colton’s training, and Roderick’s students have had success, especially with three-time All-Pro Patrick Peterson.
Considering Hood is one of the top cornerback prospects in the draft, has a connection with the organization, and is clearly already in a top training program, he has to be a name the franchise is strongly considering. The Rams love players who have family in the NFL, with Sean McVay notably praising the work of Carnell and Quentin Lake in the past.
