A male pedestrian died in Ventura after crashing with a vehicle May 29, according to authorities.
At around 9:15 p.m., the Ventura Police Department received a call of a male pedestrian lying on the road near Harbor Boulevard and Spinnaker Drive, according to a department news release. Officers responded to the call and found a man in his late 50s with major injuries, the release says.
Officers and emergency medical personnel tried to save the man but the man “succumbed to his injuries” and was pronounced dead at the scene, the release says.
Officers found the man was struck by a vehicle traveling southbound on Harbor Boulevard. The female driver of the vehicle involved stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, said Cmdr. Tim Ferrill of the department.
Based on a preliminary investigation, drug or alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the driver’s condition, the release says.
