A man who was shot and wounded during a confrontation with a Snowline Joint Unified School District Police Department officer in Victorville earlier this week has been charged with attempted murder and other alleged crimes, public records show.
Tristin Vandall Yarber, 44, of Victorville was wounded in the shooting, which took place about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, at Bear Valley and Mesa View roads, according to San Bernardino County Superior Court and jail records.
He was formally arrested the following morning after receiving treatment at a hospital.
The San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office filed a series of charges against Yarber on Friday, May 29, according to court records.
They included attempted murder, assault with a firearm on a peace officer and evading police in connection with the shooting incident, along with special allegations including attempted murder of a peace officer and firearm-related enhancements.
Yarber was also charged with assault with a firearm, with the special allegation of causing great bodily injury during domestic violence, in connection with another incident that allegedly took place four days earlier on Friday, May 22, court records show.
Further details regarding the circumstances of the officer-involved shooting, as well as the prior incident, were not available.
Yarber was being held without bail, records show. An arraignment hearing was scheduled for Monday, June 1.
