Medline officials to professionally wash, return vehicles to Tracy employees

Tracy Medline facility employees will have their vehicles towed to a safe location near the warehouse’s outer perimeter and the cars will be professionally cleaned, the company said Wednesday.

Six days ago, on June 11, a massive fire broke out at the facility, located at 5701 Promontory Parkway, and destroyed the entire building.

As of Tuesday night, June 16, South San Joaquin County Fire Authority said the blaze was considered approximately 85% contained.

On the second day of the fire, when heavy smoke clouds began to dissipate, several vehicles could be seen in the parking lot of the Medline facility.

Medline said it is assessing damage, and its partner, Servpro, will be assisting with cleaning the vehicles as well as “validating safety and functionality.”

This week, fire personnel have worked alongside demolition crews to move debris and rubble from inside the facility to allow access to the remaining hot spots.

Fire officials said crews remain focused on extinguishing those areas and ensuring the site is safe.

According to Medline, on Wednesday, the fire department had transitioned control of the site to the company and its environmental response partner Clean Harbors.

“Due the status of the incident and the fire being considered nearly extinguished, (we) have been working on the development of a plan for the transfer of incident control as emergency operations transition toward recovery efforts,” South San Joaquin County Fire Authority said in a statement.

Community members can receive gloves and N95 masks that were donated by Medline to Fire Station 95 in Tracy.

Clean Harbors can be reached at 209-751-1888 − a hotline staffed daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
