Gardenia Courtyards now under construction in Farmersville

Gardenia Courtyards Senior Apartments, a housing project for those 62 and older in Farmersville, is now officially under construction following a groundbreaking ceremony on June 12.

The project, located at North Farmersville Road and East Kristen Street, will include 42 units, one for an onsite manager. Thirty-four of the units have one bedroom, eight units will have two bedrooms.

The gated community will feature a park, a dog park, a bocce ball area and a covered picnic area.

The rent structure is designed to accommodate individuals with incomes between 30% and 60% of the median income in the area.

“Not too long ago, we gathered to celebrate the opening of our Senior Center Resource Community Hub and Transit Center,” said Araceli Ochoa, Farmersville mayor pro-tem. “At that time, I said it was our responsibility to take care of our aging community. Today is another example of us following through on that commitment.”

She went on to say that the project is about more than just housing.

“It’s about dignity, independence, and ensuring our seniors have a place to call home,” Ochoa said. “It’s also another sign of the progress we’re making as a city, another groundbreaking for Farmersville.”

Farmersville is growing

The groundbreaking continues a busy 2026 for the city.

A groundbreaking ceremony on April 17 officially kicked off construction of “La Esperanza,” a project to create 101 affordable homes for local families in the city. More recently a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Farmersville Transit Center officially opened as the new home of the Farmersville Senior Center on May 22.

The city of Farmersville also opened its new 8,414-square-foot fire station with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Jan. 16.

The Cherry Medical Clinic is currently under construction on Farmersville Boulevard, and Smee Homes is about to break ground on a 230-home project on Visalia Road, east of Farmersville City Hall. A State Foods Supermarket on Farmersville Boulevard is in the development process.

“It’s just amazing how the growth is going, and it’s exciting to see that we’re able to move forward,” Tulare County Supervisor Larry Micari said.
