A 17-year-old girl was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after police say she stabbed a 15-year-old girl in Barstow on Tuesday evening.
The alleged attack was first reported about 7:20 p.m. June 16 in the 500 block of East Virginia Way, Barstow Police Department officials said.
“Officers located the victim, identified as a 15-year-old female Barstow resident, suffering from a stab wound to her upper left shoulder area,” according to a police statement.
Rescuers rushed the victim to a trauma center by helicopter, where she was in “stable condition,” police said.
Investigators identified a 17-year-old Barstow girl as a suspect in the stabbing.
“During the investigation, parents of the 17-year-old suspect called the police to report that their daughter had been jumped and sustained injuries,” the statement said.
The underage suspect was also taken to a hospital for treatment and interviewed by officers.
She was ultimately arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and taken to a juvenile hall, officials said. Her identity was not released due to her age.
