Ladd McConkey injury update: Why the Chargers WR is missing practices

Wide receiver Ladd McConkey is currently sidelined from full team activities due to a left hamstring strain. McConkey suffered the minor injury during Phase 2 of the team’s organized team activities earlier in the offseason program.

“No real concern,” McConkey said.

Because soft-tissue injuries carry a high risk of re-aggravation, the Chargers are taking a highly cautious approach during mandatory minicamp. Head coach Jim Harbaugh opted to hold McConkey out of 11-on-11 team drills to completely avoid physical contact.

Instead, McConkey has been restricted to working on the side with athletic trainers and participating only in light individual drills.

Both Harbaugh and McConkey downplayed the severity of the strain, confirming it is not a major concern. The primary goal is simply to ensure he is fully healthy when training camp begins in July, which McConkey believes he will be a full go for.
