A 40-year-old Lancaster man has been arrested twice since May for alleged indecent exposure at Moorpark High School and after additional investigation for attempting to contact minors to commit a felony.
Deputies with the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office responded to Moorpark High around 3:38 p.m. on May 12 after receiving a report of indecent exposure in the school’s parking lot, according to a sheriff’s office news release.
The suspect fled before deputies arrived at the high school at 4500 Tierra Rejada Road, sheriff’s officials said. The victim and witnesses provided investigators with the suspect’s description and a possible license plate for his vehicle.
Investigators were able to identify the suspect as the 40-year-old man and arrested him in Lancaster on May 19 on suspicion of misdemeanor indecent exposure, authorities said. The Lancaster Police Department assisted with the arrest.
He was later released on bail but was arrested again on June 6 on suspicion of felony contacting a minor to commit a felony after investigators found that he had allegedly attempted to or made contact with several minors both in person and online, officials said.
Deputies believe the contact with minors was related to the alleged indecent exposure at the Moorpark school, said Senerey De Los Santos, a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office. The sheriff’s office did not elaborate on how many Ventura County minors were contacted because the investigation is ongoing, she added.
He was released on bail hours later and is scheduled to appear in Ventura County Superior Court on June 18, jail records show.
Sheriff’s detectives believe there could be more victims and have requested anyone with information or who had previously contacted the man to call the Moorpark Police Department at 805-532-2700.
