Grange Co-op has merger plan with Farm Supply Co.

Grange Co-op, which has a store in Redding, could soon be merging with San Luis Obispo-based Farm Supply Co.

The move between the two farm supply stores is pending cooperative members’ approval, and the merger would become effective Oct. 1.

Grange Co-op is headquartered in White City, Oregon. Its announcement on Thursday, June 11, creates 13 locations from Southern Oregon to Central Coast California. It will result in no major changes, Redding included, but shoppers may notice some small differences.

Jason Wall, a Grange spokesperson, said the name of the store is staying the same. What shoppers may notice months from now, however, is broader offerings of products in the aisles.

The store carries clothes, shoes, boots, fishing gear, camping equipment, home and garden decor, barbecue supplies and pet supplies. It also has two self-serve dog washing stations.

Prior to the proposed merger approved by its board, Grange Co-op had one other store in California. It first opened in Yuba City and then in Redding on Lake Boulevard in August 2025.

Wall noted the Redding store was coming up on its first year since it opened.

“Redding has been super welcoming. It feels like home,” he said.

Michael Mendes, CEO of Farm Supply Company, in a statement said “both cooperatives will gain the scale advantages of growth without taking on new debt, and this transaction is expected to be cashflow positive from day one. We’re combining two organizations that share the same values, the same commitment to their communities, and the same belief in the cooperative model.”

Should the merger be approved, current Grange Co-op CEO Neil Itzen will serve as CEO of the combined organization.
