Desert Valley Hospital celebrated a historic milestone this month with the graduation of its first-ever Internal Medicine Residency Program.
The graduation ceremony recognized seven resident physicians and two pharmacy residents for their “dedication, perseverance, and commitment to exceptional patient care,” hospital officials stated.
Held at the Bear Valley Country Club in Victorville, the ceremony honored the inaugural class whose training helped establish the foundation for graduate medical education at the Victorville-based Desert Valley Hospital and throughout the High Desert region, according to the hospital.
Setting a strong standard
“This inaugural class has played an important role in shaping our residency program and setting a strong standard for those who will follow,” said Dr. Imran Siddiqui, Chief Medical Officer of Desert Valley Hospital and Desert Valley Medical Group. “We are incredibly proud of their growth as physicians and healthcare professionals, their compassion for patients, and the meaningful impact they have already made in our community. While some will continue their journey through fellowship training, they will always remain part of the Desert Valley family.”
The two Internal Medicine graduates and one pharmacy resident will continue to serve the High Desert community by remaining at Desert Valley Hospital and Desert Valley Medical Group as hospitalists and primary care physicians.
The duo will help expand access to healthcare services for local patients, while the others will pursue advanced fellowship training across the country, according to the hospital.
Training the next generation
The Internal Medicine Residency Program was established to train the next generation of physicians while addressing the growing need for healthcare providers in the region.
Through rigorous clinical education, mentorship, and hands-on experience, residents gained the skills needed to provide comprehensive and compassionate care to diverse patient populations.
