When EA Sports College Football 27 launched July 9, San Joaquin County was well represented.
Twelve former local standouts were among the 9,013 players featured in the video game franchise, with two rated in the 80s and six more landing in the 70s.

Here’s a closer look at the 12 former San Joaquin County athletes featured in EA Sports College Football 27.

Devan Thompkins, Alabama (84 overall)
A three-star edge rusher in the class of 2022, Thompkins was ranked the No. 45 edge rusher nationally and a top-65 recruit in California by 247Sports. He committed to USC and spent four seasons with the Trojans.
Over the past two seasons, Thompkins totaled 55 tackles, 4.5 sacks, nine tackles for loss, one forced fumble and five pass deflections.
After entering the transfer portal in December 2025, he committed to Alabama. On3 rated him as the No. 2 defensive lineman and No. 41 overall player in the portal, while 247Sports listed him as the No. 5 defensive lineman and No. 30 overall player.
His 84 overall rating includes 76 speed, 85 strength, 83 tackling, 92 power moves, 90 pursuit, 81 finesse moves and 83 block shedding.
Jahzon Jacks, Fresno State (83 overall)
Rated as a three-star defensive lineman out of St. Mary’s in the class of 2022, Jacks was ranked the No. 140 player in California and the No. 181 defensive lineman nationally by 247sports before beginning his collegiate career at Fresno State, where he has spent the past four seasons.
Across 40 career games, Jacks has totaled 63 tackles, including 31 solo tackles, 2.5 sacks and five fumble recoveries.
His best season came as a junior in 2025, when he finished with 29 tackles, including 15 solo tackles, while adding 5.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, four fumble recoveries, five quarterback hurries and a blocked field goal. His four fumble recoveries led both the Mountain West and the FBS and were the most by a Bulldog since at least 2005.
His 83 overall rating is the fourth-highest on Fresno State’s roster and includes 79 speed, 83 strength, 89 awareness, 90 power moves, 82 tackling and 87 pursuit.
Blake Nichelson, Florida State (76 overall)
A consensus four-star recruit out of Manteca in the class of 2023, Nichelson arrived at Florida State as one of California’s top prospects. He was ranked the No. 13 overall player in the state, the No. 160 overall recruit nationally and the country’s No. 13 linebacker by 247Sports.
Across 37 career games with the Seminoles, Nichelson has recorded 112 tackles, including 51 solo tackles.
The past two seasons have established him as one of Florida State’s most reliable linebackers. As a sophomore, he played in 11 games with nine starts, finishing second on the team with 52 tackles while adding 4.0 tackles for loss and 0.5 sacks. As a junior, he played in 12 games and started the final six games of the season, totaling 43 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, 1.0 sacks, one pass breakup and one fumble recovery while again finishing second on the team in tackles for loss.
His 76 overall rating includes 83 speed, 88 tackling, 87 jumping, 86 pursuit, 84 hit power and 87 stamina.
Jomarion Briggs, Fresno State (75 overall)
A three-star cornerback out of Lincoln in the class of 2022, Briggs was ranked the No. 70 player in California and the No. 70 cornerback nationally before committing to Fresno State, where he has spent the past four seasons.
Briggs saw action in six games as a redshirt freshman in 2023, totaling two tackles while contributing on special teams. Although he did not appear in a game during the 2024 season, he returned in 2025 and immediately carved out a larger role.
As a junior, Briggs appeared in seven games and finished with 13 tackles, including 10 solo tackles.
His 75 overall rating includes 89 speed, 90 agility, 89 jumping, 81 zone coverage and 88 change of direction.
Kenneth Moore III, UCLA (73 overall)
A four-star recruit according to ESPN and Rivals out of St. Mary’s in the class of 2026, Moore III entered UCLA as the No. 59 wide receiver in the nation and the No. 35 overall prospect in California, according to ESPN.
During his high school career, Moore III helped St. Mary’s capture Stockton’s first CIF State football championship while compiling 6,541 all-purpose yards (3,277 receiving, 1,510 kick return, 964 rushing, 762 punt return and 28 interception return) and 56 total touchdowns (33 receiving, 13 rushing, six punt return and four kickoff return).
Although he has yet to play a collegiate game, Moore III begins with a 73 overall rating that includes 93 acceleration, 90 agility, 89 speed, 89 change of direction, 88 jumping, 84 juking and 82 spectacular catching.
Luke Weaver, San Jose State (73 overall)
A 2021 graduate of East Union, Weaver entered college as an unranked quarterback prospect before enrolling at Modesto Junior College.
Over three seasons, Weaver developed into one of the top junior college quarterbacks in California. He threw for 5,332 yards and 44 touchdowns in two full seasons as the starter, earning 3C2A All-American honors in 2024, two 3C2A All-State selections and two Valley Conference Offensive MVP awards. He also posted the second-most passing yards in a single season in Modesto Junior College history.
His success led him to Hawaii in 2025, where he appeared in five games and completed 63 passes for 628 yards and three touchdowns.
Now in the competition for San Jose State’s starting quarterback position, Weaver carries a 73 overall rating that includes 83 throw power, 85 short throw accuracy, 82 medium throw accuracy, 78 deep throw accuracy and 78 speed.
