Containment on the Brook Fire burning east of Redding shot up overnight.
As of Tuesday morning, July 21, the fire was 58% contained, up from 45% the day prior, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.
The fire has not grown since Sunday and still sits at 502 acres.
Evacuation warnings remain in place for zones BEV-4250 and BEV-4370, Cal Fire said.
The fire was dispatched at 4:11 p.m. on Saturday, July 18, in the area of Holbrook Drive and Aloha Road in Bella Vista, quickly growing to 40 acres in a matter of minutes under dry, scorching conditions.
The National Weather Service forecasted the chance for thunderstorms in the mountains surrounding Redding from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
That threat was expected to diminish on the valley floor.
