Texas school mourns death of student and actress Kaylee Hottle

The Texas School for the Deaf is remembering Kaylee Hottle, a young actress who starred in “Godzilla vs. Kong” and “Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire.”

Hottle, 18, died in a car crash in Maryland on Tuesday, July 21, according to TMZ, which was confirmed by Hottle’s dad, Joshua Hottle. According to the outlet, he shared the news in a video posted on his Facebook page, explaining in American Sign Language that he flew in from Texas to claim his daughter’s body.

The Texas School for the Deaf shared the news on Hottle’s passing on Facebook.

“It is with profound sadness that we share the heartbreaking news that one of our TSD seniors, Kaylee Hottle, tragically passed away yesterday in a car accident in Frederick, Maryland,” the school posted, adding that the loss will have a significant impact on the TSD community.

“Counseling and support services are available for students and staff who may need them, with additional support being provided for Kaylee’s classmates and friends. Please keep Kaylee’s loved ones in your thoughts as we mourn this tremendous loss together,” the school said.

The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office in Maryland confirmed Hottle was one of two passengers in the 2 a.m. crash, in which a 19-year-old man was allegedly driving at “excessive” speeds before traveling off the right side of the road and striking a culvert, or tunnel, reported USA TODAY.

Hottle was transported to the hospital, where she was later pronounced dead, while the driver went to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Hottle, who was also deaf, starred in the 2021 and 2024 “Godzilla vs. Kong” and was a fourth-generation deaf actress.
