Missing Bed Bath & Beyond products? Don’t lose hope. Even though the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2023, it is making a comeback through partnerships with other retailers.
The chain, which closed its remaining Iowa stores as part of the bankruptcy, will soon return to Iowa.
Eagle-eyed shoppers will start to notice sections of Bed Bath & Beyond filtering into nearly 100 The Container Store locations across the country.
Bed Bath & Beyond launching combination stores with The Container Store
The first 22 combination stores opened on June 18, with more stores to follow.
The stores offer the former’s assortment of bedding, bath, kitchen, entertaining and home essentials with the latter’s organizational offerings, including custom spaces and in-home services, according to a news release.
The combination stores come after The Container Store entered into a partnership to offer Bed Bath & Beyond products in its stores in 2024. The year prior, Bed Bath & Beyond filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and closed its in-person stores.
The retailer’s products remained available online though when Overstock.com purchased the brand’s intellectual property and launched a new website and mobile app. And in 2025, Bed Bath & Beyond acquired The Brand House Collective, formerly Kirkland’s. As part of the merger, some Kirkland’s locations became Bed Bath & Beyond stores.

When will West Des Moines get a Bed Bath & Beyond?
The Container Store in West Des Moines is slated to become a combination store.
While it wasn’t included in the first wave, additional store conversions are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
Kirkland’s Home operates two stores in Iowa — one in West Des Moines and one in Cedar Rapids — but no plans have been announced for either to be converted to Bed Bath & Beyond.
How many Bed Bath & Beyond stores were in Iowa?
Bed Bath & Beyond once operated at least eight stores in Iowa.
As it started to decline, stores in West Des Moines, Council Bluffs, Dubuque and Waterloo were closed. Another wave shortly before bankruptcy closed stores in Cedar Rapids, Coralville, Davenport and Sioux City, leaving only a Clive store operating in Iowa.
The Clive store closed a few months later, along with a nearby Buy Buy Baby.
