Jeenathan Williams, more commonly known as Nate, signed a two-way contract with the Golden State Warriors in February, his third NBA team in the last four seasons. After going undrafted out of Buffalo in the 2022 NBA Draft, Williams earned his first opportunity with the Portland Trail Blazers before spending two seasons with the Rockets and eventually finding his way to Golden State.
In 14 games for the Warriors, Williams made two starts and averaged a sizable amount of minutes, 17.1 per game. In those minutes, the shooting guard averaged eight points, 2.1 rebounds, one assist, and 0.4 steals. Williams scored double digits in five of those 14 games, including a career-high 19 against the Atlanta Hawks in March. Williams’ strongest attribute was definitely his 3-point shooting, averaging 43.3% from beyond the arc. As a guard, his field goal percentage of 48.9% wasn’t bad either. Despite a 7’0″ wingspan, Williams’ length didn’t necessarily turn into takeaways on the defensive end. That in addition to his low assist numbers cast doubt on his readiness to become a rotation piece. Looking ahead to next season, Williams will be a restricted free agent, giving the Warriors a chance to retain him.
