The Florida State Seminoles entered the race for 2027 four-star running back Daylon Gordon last week when they offered him a scholarship. It hasn’t taken long for things to pick up, as an official visit for Gordon to FSU has been scheduled for June 19.
The recruitment of Gordon has picked up since the month of March, as several other offers have come his way as well. However, specific schools are standing out to Gordon, and Florida State is one on that list.
“Florida State definitely, as well as Texas State, Arkansas State, North Texas and UTSA,” Gordon told Noles247.
The acceleration in the recruiting process when it comes to Gordon regarding the Seminoles can be attributed to one man, running backs coach Kam Martin. That’s because he’s very familiar with the 5-foot-9, 195-pounder, having offered him at his previous place of employment.
“He offered me when he was back at Tulsa,” Gordon said. “So me and him have had a relationship for a good time now.”
Gordon has an official visit with the Texas State Bobcats in June, which replaces a previous visit he had set with the Houston Cougars on June 4. He has an open date for a visit on June 12, but he still hasn’t decided how he’ll fill that vacancy.
As far as making a decision goes, Gordon will do that in the very near future, and with FSU getting his final visit, it puts them in a favorable position.
“As of right now, I think I’m going to wait until after my last visit with FSU on the 19th,” said Gordon. “So probably around June 20-something.”
Gordon has been a very productive player over the last two seasons. He was named the Texas District 9-6A Newcomer of the Year as a sophomore at Wylie High School in 2024 when he registered 1,023 yards and 15 rushing touchdowns, plus 185 yards on 12 receptions. Gordon produced 1,063 yards and 14 touchdowns while also gaining 565 yards on 38 receptions and scoring four more touchdowns as a junior.
He’s listed as the No. 345 player nationally and the No. 26 running back per 247Sports composite rankings. In the state of Texas, Gordon is the No. 49 prospect.
The Seminoles have a need at running back in the 2027 recruiting cycle. They’re easily the biggest program involved in Gordon’s recruitment, and this is one they need to close.
