A 2-year-old Victorville girl died after being found in a swimming pool at a home in Hesperia on Sunday, authorities said.
The incident was first reported about 6 p.m. May 24 in the 10300 block of Choiceana Avenue, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman Gloria Orejel said.
“The baby was pulled from the pool by family members, unconscious,” she said. “CPR was done and the baby was transported to the hospital where she was pronounced deceased.”
Coroner’s officials identified the child as Lauryn Horta.
An investigation in to the drowning was ongoing. No further details were available.
An online fundraiser was established to help the grieving family with funeral expenses.
“No parent should ever have to experience the pain of losing a child and our family is struggling to navigate the unimaginable,” according to a statement posted via GoFundMe.com.
“Lauren brought so much love, joy, and light into the lives of everyone she met,” it continued. “She loved her big brother Noah and time with her family. She had the sweetest smile and most beautiful laugh you ever heard. While we can’t fathom why she had to go so soon, we know heaven is a little bit brighter and Jesus will keep her safe until we meet again.”
