Suspect in 2024 Peekskill homicide arrested in Mexico, extradited to U.S.

A man wanted in a Peekskill homicide just over a year ago has been returned to New York following his arrest last week in Mexico, Peekskill police said.

Walter Bustos-Solis, facing state and federal charges, is expected in U.S. District Court in White Plains on Friday, June 20.

He was wanted in a June 10, 2024, stabbing that followed an early morning altercation on Main Street. Police found 33-year-old Carlos Rodriguez bleeding from severe lacerations to the lower body. He was taken to the Westchester Medical Center but died of his injuries six days later.

Peekskill police said Bustos-Solis, 45, was arrested by Mexican authorities in Puebla on June 12, 2025. He faces federal charges as a fugitive from justice and state charges related to the homicide.
