Looking for a way to get outdoors, and explore the animal kingdom, as the weather warms? Lower Hudson Valley locals don’t need to travel far to heed the call of the wild. There’s new animals to see at the Bronx Zoo, and it’s only a train ride away.
Here are some of the new baby animals you can visit at one of the most famed zoos in the country this spring and summer, and info on how to get there.

What new animals are at the Bronx Zoo?
Many of the zoo’s newest animals are infants.
Here are the babies you can spot this year:
Two new animals are joining the roster, too: a panther chameleon in Madagascar!, and an aardvark in Carter Giraffe Building.
The zoo also will have multiple exhibits reopening for the season, including the Congo Gorilla Forest, Butterfly Garden, Wild Asia Monorail and the Children’s Zoo Farmyard.
How to get to the Bronx Zoo from Lower Hudson Valley via Metro-North
Lower Hudson Valley locals can get to the Bronx Zoo easily via Metro-North: simply hop on the Harlem line to Fordham, then take the Bx9 bus eastward to 183rd Street and Southern Boulevard.
According to the Bronx Zoo’s website, you can get a discount on round-trip rail fare, as well as discounted admission to the zoo itself, when you buy a Metro-North Railroad Getaway Package.
