Wisconsin men's basketball's returning scoring 2026-27 Big Ten ranking

College basketball insider Jon Rothstein posted an incredibly interesting look at where things stand heading into the 2026-27 Big Ten season.

Having a bunch of returning players doesn’t mean everything, but more than half of the universities in this conference have fewer than 50% of their returning scorers back.

As for the Wisconsin Badgers, Greg Gard’s squad sits in the lower half, but at least still has 29.5% of their points from a year ago coming back.

Obviously, the Badgers lost John Blackwell and Nick Boyd. Seeing them still have nearly 30% is incredible, and there are plenty of other teams in the conference with far fewer returnees, which puts them in quite the pickle.

The transfer portal and NIL era have inflated this like never before, but both Illinois and Michigan State lead the way with 65.4%. As for the bottom, Indiana has just five percent of its scorers returning, and Oregon joins them at 9.2% as the two teams with under 10%.

Overall, Wisconsin ranks 11th out of 18th thanks to star players like Austin Rapp and Nolan Winter.
