The Wisconsin Badgers women’s basketball program will officially be without Reese Jaramillo in 2026-27.
Jaramarillo took to Instagram to reveal she’s “closing this chapter after giving all of myself to this program.”
The former walk-on is a Wisconsin native who appeared in just nine combined games during the 2024-25 and 2025-26 seasons.
“This wasn’t an easy decision,” Jaramillo write. “At the end, knowing my value as not only a teammate but also a person was much more important to me than allowing the allure of big time basketball.”
She continued, “I loved the game and it has taught me valuable lessons. It was the thrill of my life to have been part of this program,”
“I was fortunate enough to have developed so many amazing friendships here, and I will keep them near dear to my heart. I wish the program nothing but success in the future. On, Wisconsin!” Jaramarillo concluded.
Her lengthy Instagram post was well warranted after doing everything she possibly could to not only make the team, but remain a part of it for two seasons. Jaramillo improved her two game, 2024-25 season, with seven appearances a year ago.
Ultimately, Robin Pingeton and company will be forced to find a potential new walk-on to fill her spot on the roster. Pingeton hit a home run in the portal, but no team wants to go into the 2026-27 season with an empty spot on the roster.
