The Green Bay Packers are widely viewed as one of the NFL’s elites after starting the 2025 season with back-to-back wins over the Detroit Lions and Washington Commanders. Entering Week 3, many national authors of power rankings see the Packers as a top-3 team in football, with a couple placing Matt LaFleur’s team at the top.
In fact, all seven of the power rankings reviewed here every week has the Packers inside the top 3 — alongside the Philadelphia Eagles and Buffalo Bills among the game’s best.
The Packers led the Lions by 21 points deep into the fourth quarter and won by two touchdowns in the opener and then led the Commanders by 17 deep into the fourth quarter and won by nine points to open Week 2.
Here’s a look at where the Packers rank in NFL power rankings after an impressive 2-0 start to 2025:
The Athletic
Over-reaction from The Athletic: “Dan Quinn shouldn’t have hired Matt LaFleur — The Packers head coach was Notre Dame’s quarterbacks coach when Quinn hired him in 2015 to be part of an Atlanta Falcons staff that included Kyle Shanahan and Mike McDaniel. LaFleur has led the Packers against a team coached or coordinated by Quinn four times since 2019. His quarterbacks have thrown 12 touchdown passes against zero interceptions and had a 144.7 passer rating in those games, all of which were wins. Some thanks, huh?”
USA Today
From Nate Davis: “How well does DE Micah Parsons fit into this unit? Per PFF, he’s on (a very early) pace for 85 pressures even though he’s barely played more than half the Pack’s snaps.”
ESPN
From ESPN’s Rob Demovsky: “Jordan Love hasn’t found a No. 1 receiver yet — Losing Jayden Reed to a broken collarbone early in the Week 2 win won’t help Love identify a go-to guy. Through two games, tight end Tucker Kraft leads the Packers with eight catches for 140 yards and two touchdowns. Among the receivers, Dontayvion Wicks leads in catches (six), and Romeo Doubs leads in yards (96). Rookie first-round pick Matthew Golden has just two catches for 16 yards, but Love missed him twice on what could have been big plays against Washington.”
CBS Sports
From Pete Prisco: “That defense is special. I loved this team to get to the Super Bowl before Micah Parsons got there, and now I love that pick even more.”
SI.com
From Connor Orr: “Matt LaFleur and Jeff Hafley are different and yet very much the same in this way: they’re both phenomenal at getting elite players into space. Even when the Packers’ passing offense is slacking or one of their gifted receivers seems to be having an off day, LaFleur can involve them in a brilliant run play culled from their collegiate tape three years prior. We’re asking about the limits of this defense, but I see Jordan Love as the true unknown commodity that could take the roof off this season.
The Ringer
From Diante Lee: “We’re inching closer to Green Bay taking the top spot in these rankings.”
Yahoo Sports
From Frank Schwab: “The Jayden Reed injury is a concern. Reed broke his collarbone, and the Packers don’t necessarily have an alpha receiver. But they have plenty of options. And maybe tight end Tucker Kraft is actually their No. 1 receiver.”
