Packers roster moves: TE John FitzPatrick to IR, DE Collin Oliver activated

The Green Bay Packers announced two roster moves on Monday. Tight end John FitzPatrick, who suffered a significant injury against the Chicago Bears on Saturday night, was placed on season-ending injured reserve. With an open roster spot, the Packers activated rookie defensive end Collin Oliver from the physically unable to perform list.

FitzPatrick has a torn Achilles tendon, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The Packers will eventually have to make an addition at tight end, a position where only Luke Musgrave is healthy on the 53-man roster. Josh Whyle is in concussion protocol.

But Oliver reached his activation deadline on Monday, so the Packers chose to put him on the 53-man roster and address tight end later.

Oliver, a fifth-round pick out of Oklahoma State, could give the Packers a situational pass-rusher and special teamer for the final two games of the 2025 season. Oliver missed all of training camp and the preseason with a hamstring injury, and he began the regular season on the PUP list. He was designated for return on Dec. 2 and has practiced with the team for the last three weeks.

Oliver hasn’t played in a game since the second week of Oklahoma State’s 2024 season. He suffered a foot injury and missed the rest of his final collegiate season.

At Oklahoma State, Oliver produced 23.5 sacks, 40.5 tackles for loss, five forced fumbles and seven pass breakups.
