1 dead in Wesley Chapel plane crash. Ring camera shows rising smoke

One person is dead after a small plane crashed early Sunday morning, April 19, into the backyard of a neighborhood home near Tampa, Florida, CBS reported. Only the pilot was on board. 

A fire was caused by the crash on the property, and the residence “sustained some damage,” Pasco County public information officer Sarah Andeara said in a statement shared with CBS News.

Pasco County firefighters responded to the scene of the twin-engine plane crash in the 4900 block of Trinidad Drive in Wesley Chapel, Florida, authorities said in a Facebook post.

“NTSB is investigating the crash of a Cessna 401B airplane in Wesley Chapel, Florida,” the National Transportation Safety Board confirmed via X.

The Cessna crashed around 8:30 a.m. Sunday after departing from Tampa North Aero Park, according to the NTSB and Federal Aviation Administration.

Ring camera footage captured by neighbor Christina Galbiati showed rising smoke as the plane crashed into the home’s yard. Take a look.
