Mom of Sade Robinson says stolen items like a 'stab in the heart'

The mother of a murdered Milwaukee teenager is criticizing a business after her daughter’s belongings were stolen from a storage unit.

Sheena Scarbrough was critical of the business Extra Space Storage at a press conference July 16, saying it had mismanaged its handling of the theft of her daughter Sade Robinson’s belongings. The company said its staff wasn’t responsible for the removal of the items and would assist in a police investigation of what it described as an “unusual, targeted break in.”

“This is a stab in the heart,” Scarbrough told reporters at the press conference.

A Milwaukee police spokesperson confirmed the department was investigating the theft.

Robinson was murdered in 2024, with her death and the subsequent homicide trial capturing significant attention. For two years, her mother had been keeping Robinson’s items inside a unit of the Richards Street business and discovered July 10 the belongings were gone.

Now, she’s requesting Extra Space Storage management speak with her to address the situation. Scarbrough declined to specify what the items were but said they were valuable and had sentimental significance to her.

“There’s no price on the items,” Scarbrough said. “I want them back.”

A company spokesperson said the business would work with police on any investigation.

McKall Morris, the company’s communications director, said the business would provide security footage to police. She described the theft as targeted, as no other units were impacted by it.

Morris said the unit had fallen behind on payments in May and was scheduled for auctioning. However, that was stopped after Scarbrough explained her situation, she said. Scarbrough was up to date on payments currently, she and the company confirmed.

A jury found Maxwell Anderson, 34, guilty in June 2025 of first-degree intentional homicide, as well as other charges, in the slaying and dismemberment last year of the 19-year-old. Anderson and Robinson had shared texts before meeting in downtown Milwaukee for a first date on April 1, 2024.

Milwaukee police are asking anyone with information on the theft to contact the department at 414-935-7252 or, to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 414-224-Tips or use the P3 Tips app.
