MANITOWOC – A 25-year-old Manitowoc woman is accused of providing methamphetamine and fentanyl to a person who later died of an overdose, according to a police report.
Investigators allege the woman supplied the drugs before the person was found dead Feb. 14 at a Manitowoc home.
Manitowoc overdose investigation began with suspicious death report
Manitowoc police were dispatched Feb. 14 for a report of a suspicious death. Officers found the person unresponsive in a bedroom after a resident returned home and called 911, the report states.
Police report details drugs, messages and phone records
Investigators reported seeing signs of drug use in the room. According to the report, suspected drugs and paraphernalia later tested positive for THC, methamphetamine and fentanyl.
The report states witnesses told investigators the person who died had a history of drug use and that someone they knew had been at the home the night before.
Investigators said they identified that person as a 25-year-old Manitowoc woman through prior law enforcement contacts and a Facebook profile.
Investigators later reviewed a cellphone found at the home and found Facebook messages in which the woman allegedly discussed providing methamphetamine and fentanyl to the person who died, according to the report.
Police also obtained TextNow records and reviewed phone and internet data as part of the investigation, the report states.
Toxicology and autopsy results were later reviewed during the investigation, according to the report.
