GREEN BAY – While Green Bay Packers coach Matt LaFleur chose not to comment on the legal situation of running back Josh Jacobs, he did discuss some other items on the state of the team, including the health of some key players.
The team, meanwhile, canceled a scheduled post-practice player availability session.
Here are some takeaways from LaFleur’s May 27 media availability ahead of organized team activities:
Micah Parsons likely to open training camp on PUP list
LaFleur said he expects star edge rusher Micah Parsons to open training camp on the physically-unable-to-perform (PUP) list.
Parsons is still recovering from a torn ACL suffered in Week 15 against the Denver Broncos last season.
“Micah is doing great,” LaFleur said. “He is not here. He’ll be back here shortly.”
Matt LaFleur is optimistic about Tucker Kraft
Packers standout tight end Tucker Kraft appears to be on schedule in his return to the field.
Kraft, who is recovering from a torn ACL suffered in Week 9 against the Carolina Panthers last season, has shared some of his workouts on social media and was present but not participating during OTAs.
“Tuck looks great right now. He looks so good you want to put him out there, but it’s still early in that process,” LaFleur said. “Hopefully, he’ll be ready to go by training camp or early into training camp.”
Zach Tom injury update
Packers starting right tackle Zach Tom partially tore his patellar tendon during the Packers’ loss to the Broncos and missed the rest of the season. Tom had surgery this offseason.
Tom was present for OTAs, but didn’t participate. Darian Kinnard filled his spot at right tackle, with Jordan Morgan, Aaron Banks, Sean Rhyan and Anthony Belton handling the starting line responsibilities.
“Zach is working hard and making progress,” LaFleur said. “But I wouldn’t anticipate him back until training camp either.”
