ATLANTA – The Milwaukee Brewers seek to avoid being swept as they wrap up their three-game series against the Atlanta Braves at Truist Park on Sunday afternoon, June 21.
Left-hander Robert Gasser (0-3, 4.88) starts for the Brewers while right-hander Bryce Elder (5-4, 3.15) goes for the Braves.
The offense explodes
After Atlanta grabbed a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first on an Ozzie Albies sacrifice fly Milwaukee batted around against Elder, who hadn’t allowed more than three runs in any of his home starts coming into the day.
The Brewers racked up seven hits, including run-scoring doubles by Sal Frelick and David Hamilton, and capped the frame off with a three-run home run by William Contreras, who also began the inning by singling.
Eleven batters came to the plate in all, five drove in runs and the eight-run inning tied for Milwaukee’s largest of the season (April 28 vs. Arizona).
Brewers record
45-29, first place in the NL Central.
