To put an end to the Jonathan Kuminga saga, the Warriors traded for Atlanta Hawks center Kristaps Porzingis at the February trade deadline, reuniting him with his former Celtics teammate Al Horford. However, a lingering illness caused Porzingis to make just 15 appearances for Golden State and 32 total between both teams, marking the lowest games played total of his career, excluding the 2018-19 season, which he missed entirely due to an ACL tear.
In those 15 appearances for the Warriors, Porzingis was solid, averaging 16.1 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.1 blocks and 0.6 steals in 23.7 minutes per game. Although Porzingis’ rebounding numbers seem to be decreasing year by year, so too are his minutes. Porzingis’ shooting was just okay during the 2025-26 season, but the Warriors unfortunately got the worst of it. The Latvian big man shot worse from the field (43.3%) and from 3-point range (31.1%) with the Warriors than he did with the Hawks. A season ago in Boston, Porzingis shot 10% better from deep, finishing the year with a 41.2% success rate from beyond the arc. That said, his ability to block shots and stretch the floor offered Steve Kerr a unique type of weapon. This summer, Porzingis will be a free agent, making it uncertain whether or not he’ll remain in Golden State. While retaining him would offer another impact player for the rotation, the Warriors may not have enough cap space at their disposal to justify paying big money to a player who’s missed 90 games in the past two seasons.
