Body of kayaker found in waters of Green Bay, Menominee Police say

The body of a kayaker was found in the waters of Green Bay early June 6, according to the Menominee, Michigan, Police Department.

Menominee Police said the kayaker launched in the waters of Green Bay early on June 5 near Veterans Memorial Park. At 7:37 p.m. June 5, the police received a report of an overdue kayaker.The department attempted to locate the kayaker with on-foot officers, drones and marine vessels.

At 11:46 p.m. June 5, the kayak was found washed ashore about a mile north of Veterans Memorial Park, police said. At 12:20 a.m. June 6, the Menominee Fire Department found the body submerged about several hundred yards from shore.

Menominee Police said the incident is under investigation, but no signs of foul play are suspected. The identity of the deceased is being withheld until the department can verify that the victim’s family has been notified.
