Big Brother season finale recap; Who won BB 27? Who won America's Favorite Player and who was the Mastermind?

“Big Brother” crowned its newest winner on Sunday, Sept. 28.

There was a lot of intrigue heading into the season 27 finale with the Final 3 consisting of Morgan Pope, Ashley Hollis and Vince Panaro following an intense 83 days inside the “Big Brother” house.

The Final 3 were all part of the Judges alliance. Who would walk out with the victory?

It was a runaway victory for Ashley Hollis, a 25-year-old attorney who used her social game to win “Big Brother” 27. Hollis didn’t have the comp wins that runner-up Vince Panaro had but she won when it mattered most.

She aced the final Head of Household competition against Morgan Pope and then turned around and voted her out moments later, eliminating her biggest obstacle to win. Hollis then delivered a masterclass final speech that sealed her near unanimous vote.

Hollis wins the $750,000 grand prize.

The Journal Sentinel had live updates during the season finale. Here’s a recap below:

Who won America’s Favorite Player?

Keanu Soto won America’s Favorite Player.

The dungeon master, who was the fifth jury member, captured America’s heart and wins AFP and takes home $50,000.

Soto had more than 65% of the vote. Rachel Reilly and Will Williams were also in the top 3.

Watch when Ashley won Big Brother

Who won Big Brother?

Ashley Hollis has won Big Brother season 27.

The 25-year-old attorney wins the $750,000 grand prize after delivering her emphatic closing argument. From Showergate on night 1 and a nominee in Week 1 to walking out Day 83 as the winner with the jury showering her with praise for the game she played this summer.

She won by a convincing 6-1 vote.

Only Morgan Pope voted for Vince Panaro to win. As the runner-up, Panaro takes home $75,000.

Who was the Mastermind?

The Final 2 gives their pitch on why they should win “Big Brother.”

Dr. Will was not the Mastermind, after all.

He was framed.

The Mastermind was a trio of former houseguests — Jesse “Mr. Pectacular” Godderz, Frankie Grande and Eric Stein — who felt they were wronged in the game. It was all very odd and felt drawn out but BB was going all in on the theme and characters.

Jury votes for Big Brother winner

The jury then makes their nominations.

Based on what some of the jurors told the Final 2, it appears Ashley is the favorite.

Ashley built up her social game and her ability to connect with others and adapt her game, while Vince said despite having to burn some bridges it took him to the end.

Jury stunned by Morgan voted out, begin questioning Final 2

The jury is shocked to see Morgan.

Many of them no doubt expected her to be part of the Final 2.

The jury members will now question Ashley and Vince before casting their vote to see who they want to win.

Morgan voted out of Big Brother

Morgan meets host Julie Chen Moonves after coming up short and being the last person voted out in the game.

She said second guessed herself during Part 3 of the HOH competition.

Morgan told Julie that had she won the HOH she would have voted out her No. 1 ally Vince. She felt she had a better chance to beat Ashley for the win.

Morgan had won competition after competition for over a month. And she needed one more to ensure herself a seat in the Final 2.

But Ashley came up clutch.

Ashley evicts Morgan

Ashley evicts Morgan.

Morgan is the final member of the seven-person jury. It’s Ashley vs. Vince in the Final 2.

Ashley went from being on the block by Vince in Week 2 to now sitting next to him for the chance to win “Big Brother.”

“I love both of you very much,” Ashley said. “You two have both played amazing games, different games. To Morgan, Ashley said “you are my best friend in the house, I don’t know if I can beat you in the final 2. I think it could be a toss up with Vinny.”

Ashley wins Part 3 of the Head of Household

Wow.

Ashley Hollis just won her first HOH competition of the season at the most important time.

In a stunner, Hollis defeated Morgan Pope to win Part 3 of the three-part HOH competition. And it wasn’t close.

She had four questions right whereas Morgan just had one.

Ashley is now in the Final 2 and will determine who is the final jury member and who sits next to her in the Final 2 chairs.

She has said in recent days that if given the chance she will evict Pope, who had dominated the game and appeared to be the favorite with the jury.

Part 3 of Head of Household

Part 3 of the final Head of Household competition is beginning.

It’s between Morgan and Ashley. The jury members are asked questions about the season. The jury members will make three statements with one of them false. Morgan and Ashley must determine which statement is false. Whoever gets the most correct answers wins Part 3 and advance to the Final 2.

Who is the Big Brother Mastermind?

After Part 2, the Mastermind was revealed to be Dr. Will Kirby, a former winner and BB legend.

However, he claimed to be framed. Is he truly the Mastermind?

Ashley wins Part 2 of Big Brother HOH competition

It’s time for Part 2 of the HOH competition.

It’s Ashley vs Vince for the right to advance to Part 3.

The challenge is called “Unmask the Mastermind.” While navigating from a zipline, they had to create a puzzle featuring the faces of six of the evicted houseguests before decoding a code.

Vince had a big lead but couldn’t figure out the code because he didn’t properly read the directions. After losing the challenge, he had a major meltdown.

Former Big Brother houseguest Frankie Grande hosted the competition.

Ashley won Part 2 and advances to Part 3 to face Pope for the final HOH.

Big Brother season finale: Jury roundtable

We next get the jury roundtable!

Former Big Brother winner Cody Calafiore hosted the roundtable, talking to the six jurors about the merits of the Final 3.

Here are some of the highlights.

Who played the best game? How is the jury differentiating between Morgan’s game and Vince’s, two players who played side by side for weeks?

Rachel Reilly, a former Big Brother winner and first member of the jury, gave Vince props for his game.

Will, the seond member of the jury, spilled the beans that Ashley is a lawyer, much to the surprise of other jury members.

Pope and Panero dominated competitions but did they have the best social games? Does that title go to Ashley?

Who won Part 1 of HOH on Big Brother?

Morgan Pope takes part 1 – an endurance competition in which the houseguests had to hold onto a flying drone in the backyard.

Ashley Hollis was first to drop after 28 minutes.

Vince Panaro was the next to drop at 53 minutes, 25 seconds. That gave Pope the win.

Pope and Panaro have a Final 2 deal but Pope has implied that she may cut Panaro if she wins Part 3 of the final Head of Household competition, given Panaro’s lengthy competition win total this season. Hollis says she will vote out Pope and put her game against Panaro in the Final 2 if she wins Part 3. Panaro hopes to be taken to the Final 2 to get a chance to plead his case to the jury.
