WIAA track and field state finals: 15 Manitowoc and Sheboygan athletes to watch

The WIAA track and field postseason continues on June 5 and 6 with several Manitowoc and Sheboygan county athletes to participate at the state tournament.

Individuals finishing in the top four at sectionals in each event in Divisions 2 and 3 advance to state while in Division 1 it’s top the three finishers.

Here are the 15 state qualifiers, in alphabetical order, who won sectional titles to keep an eye on from the area.

Arjen Anderson, fr., Plymouth

Anderson was the champion in the discus on May 29 at the Division 2 Kewaskum sectional with a distance of 157-feet, 6-inches.

Maggie Behler, jr., Kohler

Behler was the winner in both the 1,600 (5:03.43) and 3,200 (11:13.79) at the Division 3 Hilbert sectional to move on.

Jenna Dirks, sr., Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah

Dirks advanced in the throwing events in Hilbert, winning the shot put (40-8.75) and also moving on in the discus.

Juliana Doerner, so., Mishicot

Doerner was victorious in both the 100 (12.13) and 200 (24.64) to move on.

Nora Halverson, jr., Sheboygan Falls

Halverson qualified for state in two individual events out of the Kewaskum sectional, winning the title in both the long jump (18-0) and triple jump (37-1.5).

Libby James, jr., Manitowoc Lincoln

James was the champion in the pole vault (10-3) at the Division 1 Beaver Dam sectional on May 29.

Sam Keuler, sr., Kiel

Keuler won the 3,200 (9:44.86) in at the Division 2 Chilton sectional.

Kennedy Kneser, sr., Oostburg

Kneser won the discus (142-11) and shot put (41-3.5) in Kewaskum.

Olivia Knowles, jr., Sheboygan South

Knowles victorious in the 100 (12.29) while also advancing to state in the 300 hurdles and 200.

Taylor Mohorne, so., Mishicot

Mohorne was the champion in the high jump (6-2) at the Hilbert sectional.

Odin Schulz, sr., Howards Grove

Schulz won the 400 (49.15) in Hilbert.

David Venegas, sr., Sheboygan South

Venegas was first in the 400 (48.87) at the Beaver Dam sectional.

Oscar Voice, so., Kohler

Voice was the winner in the 3,200 (9:47.23) in Hilbert.

Jayden Wesaw, sr., Sheboygan South

Wesaw was first in the long jump (21-11) in Beaver Dam while also moving on in the triple jump.

Michaelynn Wotachek, jr., Mishicot

Wotachek won the high jump (5-2) in Hilbert while also moving on in the 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles.
