WISN-TV (Channel 12) is looking for another meteorologist.
Weekend meteorologist Gino Recchia is leaving the station Sunday, June 28, longtime WISN meteorologist Mark Baden announced in a Facebook post Wednesday, June 25. Recchia is the second meteorologist to depart the station this year.
Recchia, a Chicago native, joined WISN after Daji Aswad’s departure in October 2023. He started working at the station in December of that year, according to his LinkedIn profile. Before his time in Milwaukee, Recchia worked for six years as weekend meteorologist at an NBC affiliate in Green Bay.
Recchia has won two regional Emmy awards, according to his WISN staff profile, and his interest in weather blossomed from a young age. He often covered major local weather events, chasing storms and serving as the station’s eyes on the road and in the sky. Baden frequently reminded viewers that “Gino is a professional.”
Neither Recchia nor WISN announced what the meteorologist’s next professional move would be.
News of Recchia’s departure comes in the wake of the abrupt and mysterious end of Lindsey Slater’s roughly seven-year stint at the station. Neither Slater nor WISN-TV have shared the details surrounding her exit. The station in April announced it had hired meteorologist Jason Dunning to replace her.
Slater has since been hired by WTMJ-TV (Channel 4).
