Around 6:30 p.m., 22 firefighters responded to the collapse, which was caused by water that accumulated from the storm. Volunteers showed up to Safe Haven to emergency foster and evacuate all 45 cats from the building.

On June 25, Safe Haven Pet Sanctuary posted to its Facebook page that it is trying to locate one of the cats, Audra, who hid in the first floor ceiling. Anyone who spots her should message the pet sanctuary on Facebook or email safehavenpetsanctuary@gmail.com.

No animals or people were injured, according to Green Bay Metro Fire Department. Crews continued to monitor the building during the heavy rainfall.

The incident is still under review and the Safe Haven will work with building professionals to evaluate the extent of damage.

Safe Haven said most of the cats are staying at nearby businesses including Animal House Green Bay, Oak View Veterinary Hospital and Safe Haven Hope Center homeless shelter, but the future of the sanctuary is uncertain.
