An iconic rock ‘n’ roll band is coming to Wisconsin this weekend during the final leg of its stadium tour.
AC/DC is playing at Madison’s Camp Randall Stadium Sunday, July 19 as part of its PWR UP Tour.
The stadium tour is named after the 2020 AC/DC album of the same name and has been going on since 2024. The rock band’s website describes the tour as “powering up for the last time!” though it’s unclear if it’ll actually be AC/DC’s final tour.
Formed in Australia in 1973, AC/DC has been around for more than 50 years, earning its place in history books. The band’s long list of classics include “Thunderstruck,” “Highway to Hell” and “Back in Black.”
Here’s what to know about the upcoming concert, which will be AC/DC’s first time playing in Wisconsin in 16 years:
When is the AC/DC concert at Camp Randall Stadium?
Gates open at 5:30 p.m., with AC/DC’s opener, The Pretty Reckless, taking the stage at 7 p.m.
Who is AC/DC’s opener for its Madison concert?
AC/DC’s opener, The Pretty Reckless, was started in 2009. Its lead singer, Taylor Momsen, may be recognized by her youth acting roles in “Gossip Girl” and “How the Grinch Stole Christmas.” Momsen has, however, spent the last 15 years focusing on her music career. The Pretty Reckless has five studio albums, the most recent of which released in June.
What’s the Camp Randall Stadium bag policy for the AC/DC concert?
According to radio station WJJO, which is hosting a pre-party for the concert, Camp Randall’s concert policy is the same as it is for University of Wisconsin football games. Guests are permitted to bring a clear plastic tote up to 12 inches by six inches by 12 inches, a one-gallon clear freezer bag or a small clutch purse up to 4.5 inches by 6.5 inches.
Diaper bags are permitted if a guest has a child with them, and are subject to a full security inspection. Any medically necessary bags must be inspected and tagged at the stadium’s gates.
How long as AC/DC been on its PWR UP Tour?
AC/DC’s PWR UP Tour started in Germany in 2024. Now in its third year, the tour is making its way across North America for the second time – the last North American stretch was in spring 2025. The current leg of the tour started July 11 in Charlotte, North Carolina.
When was the last time AC/DC has been on tour?
Before the PWR UP Tour, AC/DC hadn’t been on tour in nearly a decade. The band’s Rock or Bust World Tour ran in 2015 and 2016, in support of the band’s 16th studio album.
AC/DC hasn’t performed in Wisconsin since 2010, when it played at Milwaukee’s Bradley Center as part of its Black Ice World Tour.
Does AC/DC still have its original band members?
No. The only remaining founding member of AC/DC is lead guitarist Angus Young, who’s now 71 years old. However, longtime lead singer Brian Johnson has been in the band since 1980, following the sudden death of former frontman Bon Scott. Johnson is still taking the stage at age 78.
Also in the band’s 2026 lineup is rhythm guitarist Stevie Young, who filled in on AC/DC’s 1988 stadium tour but didn’t formally join the band until 2014, after founding member Malcolm Young retired due to a dementia diagnosis.
Joining them on stage is Matt Laug on drums and Chris Chaney on bass, who each just joined the band in recent years.
Are AC/DC tickets for Madison still available?
Yes. Tickets can still be purchased through AC/DC’s website, as well as through third-party ticket sites. Purchased through AC/DC’s official website – which directs to UW-Madison’s ticket site – ticket prices start at $79.
