Want to address Corpus Christi City Council in a public forum? Here are the new rules.

Editor’s note: City Council members are anticipated to discuss additional amendments to the new public comment protocol in their July 15 meeting, according to an agenda item.

Historically, public comment has been held at noon — a time set aside in which residents could discuss items on the council’s agenda, as well as any other city topics, for as many as three minutes.

There was also an option for residents to speak on specific items, when the council reached those topics on the agenda, also for as many as three minutes.

The council last month voted to adjust those policies — a decision that proponents suggested would help make the meetings more efficient and also give opportunity for more residents who have jobs to participate.

Below is a breakdown of the amended procedures, according to a city news release.
