Man injured after unknown person shoots him outside Frenchtown home

A man was injured after being shot outside a home Friday evening.

On July 11, Tallahassee Police officers arrived in the 600 block of Dent Street in Frenchtown around 6:15 p.m. after a shooting was reported, a TPD news incident report said.

“According to initial information, the victim stepped outside of the residence when an unknown individual opened fire,” TPD said. “The suspect then entered a vehicle waiting nearby and fled the scene.”

It is unclear if the victim knew the shooter, said TPD spokesperson Alicia Hill.

The victim suffered a non-life-threatening injury, and as of Monday morning, no arrests have been made and no suspects have been identified.

The latest serious shooting in the capital city and county is still an open and active investigation. So far in 2025, 13 people have been killed and at least 25 injured in at least 36 shootings in the capital city, according to a Tallahassee Democrat analysis of gun violence.
