Texas Tech lands commitment from in-state 4-star S Hunter Haug

The Texas Tech Red Raiders have been in the news a lot over the past couple of weeks, but on Wednesday morning, it’s for great reasons, as they picked up an elite player from the Lone Star State in the 2027 class.

4-star safety Hunter Haug announced his commitment to the Red Raiders, opting to stay close to his Spring Branch home and play in Lubbock instead of going to the TCU Horned Frogs, Arkansas Razorbacks, and Oklahoma State Cowboys.

Haug stands at 6-foot-2, 195 pounds, and is rated by the 247Sports Composite as the No. 216 player and No. 10 athlete in the 2027 class. Haug is a multi-sport athlete, and had a great track season this spring, running a 10.65 in the 100-meters, while also posting a 22-3 long jump in high school.

This commitment doesn’t come as a major surprise, as Haug is coming off of an official visit to Lubbock last week, giving him another chance to check out the facilities and see where he would fit in the system.

With the addition of Haug, the Red Raiders now have the No. 7 recruiting class in the nation, headlined by 5-star DL Jalen Brewster and 5-star EDGE Anthony Sweeney.
