The Texas Tech football team added another multi-purpose weapon to its 2027 recruiting class.
The Red Raiders earned a commitment from Smithson Valley safety Hunter Haug on Wednesday. Haug is listed as a four-star prospect by 247Sports, ranked the No. 10 athlete in the country.
Listed at 6-foot-2 and 195 pounds, Haug had offers from the likes of TCU, Arkansas and Baylor before committing to Texas Tech.
Haug totaled 2,053 all-purpose yards in helping Smithson Valley win the state championship in 2025. He accounted for 1,156 yards and 16 total touchdowns on offense and recorded 57 tackles, an interception, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery on defense.
