With exactly 80 days until Texas A&M kicks off its 2026 campaign, BetMGM has released its official SEC win total predictions for each team in the conference.
The Aggies’ win total sits at 8.5 entering the third year under head coach Mike Elko, which is tied for third in the conference with Alabama and LSU. An uptick in schedule difficulty and loss of production in the trenches is likely responsible for this number by BetMGM ahead of the season opener against Missouri State on Saturday, Sep. 5.
Elko led last year’s squad to the program’s first 11-0 start since 1992 and secured a spot in the College Football Playoff for the first time, but replacing the 10 elite talents selected in the 2026 NFL Draft could prove to be a massive obstacle for the Aggies to overcome.
On the flip side, Elko reeled in the No. 4 transfer portal class in college football this offseason, which includes star Alabama wideout, Isaiah Horton. He will join alongside electric wide receiver Mario Craver, who transferred to Texas A&M from Mississippi State last season, providing quarterback Marcel Reed one of the top receiving units to target in his junior season in Bryan-College Station.
While Texas A&M lost five starting offensive linemen to the NFL Draft, they reloaded by hauling in talent from SEC foes through the portal. That includes tackles Tyree Adams (LSU) and Wilkin Formby (Alabama), along with guard Trovon Baugh (South Carolina). Their performances up front will be correlated with the ceiling of this year’s team and how well Reed can develop moving forward.
According to CBS Sports, the Aggies face the No. 8 toughest schedule in college football this season, which features a grueling late-season stretch. Road trips against LSU, Alabama and Oklahoma, along with home games against Tennessee and Texas, make up one of the most difficult schedules in the conference in 2026. The bar has been set high following last season’s accomplishments, but the loaded nine-game SEC slate will make things much more difficult.
