Texas A&M's surge with three‑game streak to revive postseason hopes

After starting SEC play 1–8, it genuinely looked like the bottom had fallen out for Texas A&M. The Aggies absorbed multiple losses by 20 points or more, and the pattern became painfully familiar: competitive first halves followed by offensive collapses, including several games where they scored single‑digit points in each of the final two quarters. But over the last month, the script has finally started to change.

Following a dominant 21‑point win over Arkansas, A&M is now one game above .500 with two regular‑season contests remaining. If the Aggies can finish strong and pick up a win or two in the SEC Tournament, they’ll put themselves in legitimate position for an NIT bid. Even if they win out, their current selection odds sit below 30%, but that number climbs quickly with a few more convincing victories—especially if one comes against a ranked Ole Miss team to close the season.

Of course, selection committees operate on their own logic. But if A&M continues trending upward and presents itself as a team peaking at the right time, it’s entirely possible they sneak in as one of the last four teams selected.

What’s clear is that Joni Taylor has this group playing its best basketball of conference play. During their current three‑game winning streak, the Aggies are shooting 53.7% from the field, 47.7% from three, and averaging 80.3 points per game—a massive leap from their early‑January struggles. They’ve now won four of their last five, including two victories over top‑25 opponents, and finally resemble the team many expected to see when the season began.

Texas A&M will be back in action when they host Mississippi State on February 26 at 7 p.m. in their final home game of the 2026 season.
