El Paso athletes at UIL Texas state meet. How they fared

El Paso got off to a silver start at the UIL State Track and Field Championships, with Clint’s Matthew Portillo and Andress’ Jordan Owens each taking silver in the Class 4A pole vault and Class 5A long jump respectively.

The three-day state championships featured 4A athletes competing at Mike Myers Stadium on Thursday, May 14, 5A on May 15 and 6A on the final day of the meet, Saturday, May 16. Overall El Paso had 11 individuals and three relays competing.
