San Angelo has seen a slight uptick in population, according to new figures from the U.S. Census Bureau.
Numbers released on Thursday showed San Angelo’s population as of July 2025 was 100,640. The figure for 2024 was 100,308.
The estimate also shows an increase over the official 2020 census count of 99,893, according to the Census Bureau.
Texas had the five fastest growing cities in the nation with four of them clustered in the suburbs of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, according to the media release.
Celina, near Dallas was the fastest growing city in the nation, surging by 24.6% over the past year to 64,427 compared to 18,000 residents in the 2020 official census.
Austin reached a milestone. The bureau said the state capitol joined the ranks of a dozen U.S. cities with at least 1 million residents. The 2025 population estimate for Austin was 1,002,632.
Fort Worth also moved into the top 10 most populous U.S. cities, registering a total of 1,028,117 residents.
The bureau said in a news release Wednesday that despite a national slowdown in population growth, midsized cities held their own over the past year while growth declined among many large cities, especially in the Northeast.
