Police ID 2 people killed in apparent north Lubbock murder-suicide

Homicide detectives are investigating an apparent early Monday morning murder-suicide at a home in North Lubbock.

Investigators with the Lubbock Metropolitan Special Crimes Unit were called to a home in the 2100 block of North Avenue J where patrol officers responded about 2:40 a.m. to a report of a suicide, according to a police news release.

Responding officer found 38-year-old Christopher Robertson and 25-year-old Riley Moorhead suffering from gunshot wounds, according to the release.

Robertson died at the scene while Moorhead was taken to University Medical Center where he later died, the release states.

An initial investigation indicated that Moorhead arrived at the residence where police believe he shot Robertson before shooting himself, according to the release, which did not disclose a motive for the shooting or the relationship between the two.

Other information about the circumstances leading to the shooting were not immediately clear as the investigation is ongoing.
