INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana Fever coach Stephanie White doesn’t think people should look too much into star guard Caitlin Clark’s leg sleeve in practice.
“It’s a style thing,” White said with a laugh. “It looks good on her, doesn’t it?”
Clark came out to Monday’s practice with a full sleeve on her left leg, days after she hit her kneecap on the floor against the Dallas Wings on April 30. She had a slight limp directly after the foul, which was called a Flagrant 1 for landing space, but still shot the free throws before exiting the game. Following the game, she said she felt good and just landed on her kneecap really hard.

Two days later, when the Fever played the Nigerian National Team on May 2, Clark told IndyStar that she didn’t have any extra swelling or residual effects in the days after.
Players can wear leg sleeves for a variety of reasons, including keeping their leg warm, stability after an injury, compression, or simply because they like the look. Wearing a leg sleeve does not automatically mean an injury; players like the Las Vegas Aces’ A’ja Wilson and Atlanta Dream’s Angel Reese have worm one-leg sleeves their entire careers.
