School is out for summer, and after softball season came to an end in late May, the high school sports calendar in the Lone Star State is clear until August.
The 2024-25 school year saw multiple teams in the Texas Panhandle win state titles, including Bushland volleyball, Nazareth girls basketball, Randall girls soccer, Canyon girls cross country, Panhandle girls track & field and the Raiders’ team tennis squad.
To commemorate another strong athletics campaign in the area, the Amarillo Globe-News wants to know who fans think should be the Girls Athlete of the Year.
Throughout the season, fans voted for Happy State Bank Athlete of the Week, with the player who received the most votes picking up the honor. Now, each player who was nominated for Athlete of the Week is up for Globe-News Athlete of the Year.
The poll will close Monday, July 7, and the winner will be announced shortly after. See nominees for the award below.
